Frequently asked questions

Will I learn with a book?

Your teacher will adapt the class to your personal learning objectives. If you want to use a book or if the teachers thinks it is a good mean to reach your objectives, we will use a book for your class. The teacher will tell you which and where to purchase it.

How are the classes structured?

Before we start, we will ask you for a detailed description of your learning objective and your current level of Spanish. If necessary, we will take a level test with you. Based on this, our teachers establish a learning plan and choose the best learning materials for you.

Is there a minimum or a maximum age?

No. Students of any age can have classes.

How long do I need per level?

According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the syllabus of the Instituto Cervantes, there is a relatively exact description of the contents of each language level. As an accredited language school, we teach all contents in a structured manner and with a practical approach. Please click on Levels and Objectives to see how many hours you need per level.

Can I participate as a complete beginner?

Yes. Private lessons are suitable for any level. For beginners starting from scratch as well as for learners with already existing knowledge of Spanish.

Which class materials will we use?

The Instituto de Idiomas Ibiza uses course books according to the Instituto Cervantes developed especially for intensive course in Spain. The course book’s objective is to teach the Spanish language with the best possible methodology and we enrich them with extra materials, class audios and internet ressources.

Can the teacher come to the house/hotel?

Yes, this is possible. The price per hour is 37,50€ (25% surcharge) instead of 30€ per hour and we will have to charge you the travel time by the same price per hour. It would be for example if it takes 30 minutes to get to the house/hotel, that we charge another hour to come and go. The school is obliged to pay the extra to the teachers when working outside the usual work premises and the travel time on top. We sincerely hope that you understand this. In Ibiza the travel expenses can’t be counted by distance because it depends very much on the roads in the area. So the price varies depending on where the house or hotel is located. We just need the exact address or location and we will confirm it to you. Please contact us before booking this option.

How many lessons should I take?
Students choose differently depending on their objective and availability.
For students who wish to learn at least during a couple of months, a typical weekly schedule is 2-3 times per week approximately 90 minutes. Some also have class every day between 1 and 4 hours depending on how intensively you want to how well they can concentrate.
A great way to do this is to just start and then go adapting the amount of hours according to your progress and availability.
Will I have homework assignments?

If you wish so, yes. We will adapt your private lessons to your schedule. While homework assignments are a wonderful way to progress even while you are not in class with your teacher, there is no obligation. We will ask you if you want homework or not.

Can I cancel a class?

Yes. In this case, please inform us by Email at info@ii-ibiza.com. We will apply our cancellation policy for private lessons. If you cancel

  • more than 24 hours in advance: no charge
  • between 12 and 24 hours in advance: charge of 50% of the classes of the day
  • between 0 and 12 hours in advance: charge of 50% of the classes of the day

It is not possible to cancel or change classes on a weekend. For example, to cancel the classes on a Saturday/Sunday/Monday on a Saturday/Sunday.

At what times can I have class?

Pretty much anytime from Monday to Friday between 08:00am and 20:00pm depending on teacher availability. On weekends at a surcharge. We have many teachers and and can adapt in general pretty well to your busy schedule.

Will I get a course certificate?

If you wish so, please let us know. The course certificate contains the level after finishing the course and the assistance.
